Obituary for Nancy McGill

Nancy Elizabeth McGill, born on the 18th of January 1962, in the city of Muskegon, Michigan passed in a most peaceful manner at age 60 into the arms of her Heavenly Father on the first day of Year 2023. Nancy grew up in Muskegon and Holland, MI. After high school she ventured to Tennessee Temple to attend college, where she met her husband. They were led to become missionaries in the state of Alaska. After years of servitude, they moved to Michigan to begin their family. Most of her adult life was spent working in the medical field, serving faithfully in her church, and throughout her faithful service never expected anything in return. She would go out of her way to make everyone feel welcome, never judged anyone, and would give the shirt off her back. She was a woman of God and followed in her mother’s spirit, who also had the biggest heart you would ever meet. She had a generous and giving spirit that will hopefully be passed on for generations to come. She was a rock to the family and enjoyed mowing the lawn, helping with laundry, sewing your clothes, making sure we were all fed well, was a garage sale enthusiast, and most importantly was always there for her family with support and solutions to any problem. Anything crafted from her siblings, children, and grandchildren were treasures with carefully chosen places of honor. Such profound understanding of all things beautiful and sentimental came through her devotion to her Lord Jesus Christ. She adored serving in the church, and over the years was a teacher, leader, church group member, and prayer warrior.

She is preceded in death by her mother Shirley Darling, and her father Duane Darling. She is survived and remembered by her family with whom she shared her formative years: brother David (Maggie) Darling, brother Jeffrey Darling, sister Susan (Bryon) Lamb, her children Jessica (Jake) Rickert, Jenny (Chloe her dog) McGill, Joel (Amanda) McGill, grandchildren Jackson McGill, Emmit Rickert, Michael McGill, Autumn Rickert, as well as many nieces and nephews who adored her greatly.

Services will be at First Baptist Church (2275 W Main St. Lowell, MI 49331). Visitation 1/6/23 from 6-8pm and Funeral Services on 1/7/23 at Noon with luncheon to follow.
