Obituary for Nancy Jones

On Tuesday, August 16, 2022, Nancy Shutter Jones, loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and friend, passed away at age eighty-two. Born in Baltimore, Maryland on March 26, 1940, to Ann and Charles Shutter, Nancy was the eldest of two children, herself and Charles Shutter II. Nancy attended Lake Erie college where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree and went on to serve as an executive in banking and finance. In her youth, Nancy enjoyed horseback riding on her childhood farm and studied in France during her college years.

The center of Nancy’s world were her two children, Pete Weiblen and Lisa Greiner, whom she proudly watched build their own families. Nancy was living in Stuart Florida, one of the several communities she enjoyed calling home, when she met Ken Jones, whom became her loving husband, travel partner and soulmate until proceeding her in death in 2016.

Nancy had a number of passions, including cooking and hosting dinner parties with her friends, sailing with Ken on their beloved vessel, Cheers, spending time in Michigan with the Greiner/Weiblen families during the Christmas season (Mrs. Christmas as they refer to Nancy), and Sunday lunch with her core group of girlfriends from Lake Erie College “The Yaya’s.”

Nancy is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Dave) Greiner, daughter-in-law Barb (Peter) Weiblen and her four grandchildren Grant Greiner, Grace Greiner, Emilee Weiblen and Molly Weiblen.

She was preceded in death by her son, Peter (Barb) Weiblen (1963-2018) and husband Ken Jones (1929-2016).

Donations may be sent in Nancy’s memory to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (pancan.org).
