Chris Duane Hite, aka "The Elf", of Battle Creek, MI, passed away Sept 2, 2022, at the age of 63 from cancer. When asked how old he was he would say, "older than dirt, and remember when it was new." Chris was born April 7, 1959, to Earnest and Bertha (Phillips) Hite in Battle Creek, MI., but his Tennessee routes ran deep, and his southern accent was a giveaway.

Chris attended Harper Creek Schools all his life. He was the caregiver of his mother during her final years when she suffered with cancer giving her his full attention. He enjoyed riding his bicycle 50 miles per day and finding lost treasures along the way. He was an unpublished writer, writing novels and poetry.

Remember some of the silly little things
I said or did that made you smile

And be happy knowing that where I am
I am no longer a prisoner of my fears
I would rather you did this for me
Than think of me with tears

He is survived by his brother Carey Dennis Hite, SR. and his sister Carol Denise Michielsen and his brother in-law David Michielsen who he loved dearly.
He attended Family Altar Chapel. A small private burial will be held at a later date.
