Obituary for Carol Culp

Carol Duane Culp, age 74, of Grand Rapids, MI, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2023 with family by her side. Carol was preceded in death by the father of her children, her former spouse of 35 years, Douglas Culp, parents Dorothy and George Grzybowski, sister Kathy (Darryl) Johnson, brother Steven Grzybowski and two daughters at birth, Michelle and Amber Culp. She is survived by her siblings Roger (Annette) Grzybowski, Kenneth Grzybowski, George (Karla) Grzybowski, Deborah (Dan) Spicer, and four children: Michael (Dorene) Culp, Shane (Kristen) Culp, Ashley Culp and Kaylyn Culp. Carol has 7 grandchildren she adored: Amanda (Steve) Bursley, Tyler Culp, Jordan (Karly) Culp, Jaren Culp, Jayce Culp, Arianna Culp and Grace Myers, and 3 great-grandchildren, Ben and Evan Bursley and Riley Culp. Carol was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Carol grew up in Mecosta County and enjoyed swimming in the nearby lake growing up. In her early years Carol was an avid bowler and in roller skating competitions with her former spouse where she won multiple trophies and had a 220 bowling average. She had multiple jobs throughout the years including cleaning homes for families, however her main job was raising her four children and taking care of her home and later enjoyed providing daycare for her grandson. She then worked at St. Vincent De Paul and finally as a caretaker for an elderly lady in her home. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, crafting, reading her bible, crosswords, bingo, watching movies, cooking, and playing cards and poker with friends and family through the years. Carol had a generous heart, strong faith, loved to laugh and prayed for her children and grandchildren daily. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The family is grateful for the prayers, messages and support from so many. A memorial service will be held at Ada Bible Church, 3869 Knapp St NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525 on March 16th at 11:00 am with lunch and fellowship to follow. In honor of Carol, donations may be made to Ada Bible Church to support helping others as she would have wanted. The family welcomes memories and messages in on her online guest book.
